Re: Notesizes in Strauss Don Quixote (Jos. Aibl Verlag / UE)

I've not been aware of this before, but it certainly seems to be something to to add to one's armoury of possible solutions to problems. To be used with care. In Finale I don't think there's any way to have one note size for the score and another for the part, so one would have to restore the full n...

Ah that's it, not the telephone line at all… Thank you very much for this. Perhaps we should all contribute something to the cost of the certificate.

Re: Difficulty logging in to Notat.io

Well this is extraordinary. We have just had four hours of thunderstorms here in NE Scotland. At the height of the storms I unplugged many things, including the telephone line (but not the power to the router which is via an anti-surge uninterrupted power supply). Anyway, I can now connect to this s...

Difficulty logging in to Notat.io

For about a week now, I have been unable to log in to this site via my router. Today I have logged in via G3 (best available here) using my computer via my mobile and ‘personal hotspot.’ Some automated security up-date in my router seems to be blocking access to this site. The router network appears...

Re: Making the switch to Dorico?

… … … I suppose we are both lucky to have the tools that suit us. None of the computer music typesetting tools really suit me as a composer: manuscript is more instinctive, natural and flexible (and I still use it for all the preliminary stages). However economics mean it's much (hugely) less expen...

Re: "Progressive Correction": Beethoven

It also makes me wonder whether I shouldn't try to preserve more of the personal touches (even eccentricities) from my pencil sketches and drafts when I typeset my own scores in Finale. Something can be lost, certainly.

Re: Beethoven Stems

John, a very minor question: I see Beethoven has a dotted crotchet (quarter) rest, but that you prefer crotchet followed by quaver (eighth). Why?

Re: Composers vs Editors: Another controversial note

… … …I have begun work on Beethoven's piano sonatas and will probably post here regarding my observations as I go. If you let me know the details when ready, assuming I'm still compos mentis (well, I am getting a bit ancient), I'd like to buy your Beethoven sonata edition. There might be less point...
