Interesting that he recommends non-italic bar numbers. Gould recommends italics, and I'm happy with that. However, I do go along with making them sufficiently large: they are sometimes too small in both parts and scores.

A slight up-date: I think the or: is perhaps better placed like this. Any thoughts?

I've just checked three Boulez scores I have here. Two (but not Le marteau sans maître) have straight flags, but none use sans serif text fonts. I'm not sure that the straight flags do anything useful.

It's turned out to be a bit of a non-problem, as each of the short cadenzas for Bsn 1 in this little (4 min) piece can be made to fit on one system.

What is the best solution for placement of the whole bar rest plus pausa under the mini cadenza for bassoon 1? Is it OK where it is, or should it be more to the left?

In Finale I used JW conceal barlines for the cadenza and blank notation in the three lower staves for the concealed whole bars rests.
