Copyright question (Schoenberg Serenade).

I was surprised to find a (less than perfect) scan of the Wilhelm Hansen score of Schoenberg's Serenade Op 24 freely available as a download on the internet. Since Schoenberg died in 1951, the piece is copyright in the EC (including here in the UK) until the end of 2021. On the other hand, to buy th...

Re: Page layout, loose pages (orchestral scores)

As far I can suggest, the only other solution is to hide fewer empty staves in the relevant systems when this happens. At least you'll have staves and rests filling the page.

Re: 16th century keyboard notation

…Without your explaination I would have take this as the Loch Ness Monster . Now, now, don't take poor Nessie in vain! (I'm due to be visiting friends who live by Loch Ness this next weekend, including my 76th birthday.) She (Nessie) is good for the tourist trade, if nothing else. Apologies for the...

Re: Music Preparation Guidelines (from MOLA)

I've been told by one publisher's hire librarian that some orchestras this side of the Atlantic specifically ask for coil bound parts for hiring.

That makes it very difficult and time consuming to get the result you want, but is not in itself an absolute disaster. This is with 2014.5, ...

Re: Positioning of objects

It is interesting, David, that you called the ornament a mordent. There was just an extended discussion of this nomenclature at Dorico forum. Apparently there has been a tendency for trills shown by a squiggle to be called mordents in Britain. This has even made its way into Finale. But the mordent...

Re: Excess verbal information?

… … Remember the situation where the everything except the clefs, staves and text vanishes with use of the staff tool to adjust staff distance? Does this happen with this file? That this issue is connected with heavy text memory demands was just confirmed by MM. Not yet in this one! It happens all ...

Excess verbal information?

See the screenshot - excess verbal information? This is from a piece in progress, three quarters written to date and due for performance in late October to accompany projections from an artist. The piece is called Arias and Cadenzas in which the arias (A) accompany projected stills (but with barely ...
