sextuplets
Following on from a comment from John Ruggero here https://notat.io/viewtopic.php?t=1243&view=unread#unread I'm wondering why I wrote different bowing for simultaneous sextuplets in violin 1 and violin 2, and then ditto in cello 1 and cello 2 in 2012 as shown in the screenshot (this is a score I...

Re: Tuplets
This Finale file from 2012 (which I'm currently revising a little) is full of uneven triplets. To achieve the quaver then semiquaver (8th then 16th) combination for a triplet while in Speedy, I first keyed (on a Mac) Option>3 to specify a standard triplet (ie 3x in the space of 2x). I then entered a...

Re: tuplets (3 vs 6) in 2/2
If I understand you correctly, ie that this is about quaver (eighth note) tuplets, six to the half bar, I should go for sextuplets.

Re: Tuplets
You would probably get the most comprehensive reply if you go to the Finale Forum at https://www.finaleforum.com/index.php?sid=3bdf3fc2fb27ea641c2669cde51a14d6 If you don't get a reply over there, I will do my best to explain what I have been doing in Finale's Speedy Entry. I've no idea how to do it...

Re: Tantacrul video on Finale
It's entertaining (for a while), although maybe a bit exaggerated about some things. eg As I'm sure you remember, it's easy enough (not obvious, I agree) to change a font globally in Finale via the menu Document>Data Check>Font Utilities, but in his video he makes a great jokey performance of not be...

Re: Dorico 6 released!
Although I installed Dorico the day Finale announced its demise and offered the ‘cross-grade’, I have not yet taken the plunge to start working with it. Question: should I install Dorico 6 before I really do jump in (as I know I must)? My thought is that it's probably best to start with the latest a...

Re: About the use of rehearsal marks
In a large multi-movement, or even more a multi-scene and multi-act piece, numbered rehearsal marks that continue their sequence for the entire piece are a quick way to a given place when a question is asked if there are numerous bar number regions (and thus many bars 107 [eg]). 1st bassoon to DW at...

Brahms' beaming, dots et al
I would be interested in comments from members of this forum about Brahms' notation here in his F minor Sonata Opus 120 No 1 (viola version) bars 184–186. (The example is from the Henle edition.) It seems clear and straightforward to me, but I expect one would not be encouraged to notate like this n...

Re: How would you word this: repeated without synchronization?
Something like this? I think that's what I've done that has achieved what you are asking for.
You might make that ‘independently ad lib.’ if you feel it's safer, or even ‘individually ad lib.’.

Re: chromatic unison in chords?
I've rarely faced myself with this problem, but I like the third Gardner Read solution. I'll check later to see how I may have actually done this over the decades in manuscript, or indeed in Finale. (I got home on Sunday after over six weeks away to find the telephone line out of action through ligh...
