Re: Starting and running publishing business

I think you are in Italy, but if you have UK or Irish customers, the Scottish Music Centre (SMC) has a music printing and binding service that is very flexible https://www.scottishmusiccentre.com/copying-printing-binding Members (including me) get priority (or at least a discount) and sometimes ther...

Re: Where should a hairpin end?

I believe the hairpin should go as far as it is meant to sound, ie when appropriate it should go to the end of the note.

The second example looks as though it may be from a timpani part (?), in which case what is written is logical.

Re: Percussion (susp. cymbal) notation question

No, there really isn't a symbol here. I think the clearest you could be would be to specify "on crown" (or "at crown") "with wood". It probably varies between English speaking countries, but in my experience the more usual term in English is the ‘bell’ of the cymbal rather than the ‘crown’. At leas...

Re: "ad lib"bowing

Re: Finale 27 Fonts going bonkers

… … …However, Apple does seem to be 'hiding' some of it own fonts that are installed, so that even though they are bundled with the system, most apps can't actually use them. Times now seems to be one of these. Apple's Times is a .ttc "Collection" font, which means that all four styles are bundled ...

Brahms 4

I wonder what notational software is used here? https://twitter.com/LPOrchestra/status/1554769040845017090 It is a rather fascinating and clever short video from the London Philharmonic Orchestra showing what is going on in the score during the first two minutes of the second movement of Brahms's 4t...

Re: Finale 27 Fonts going bonkers

As I've just said in response your post on this subject on the Finale forum: I'm hoping to up-date everything, Mac hardware, OS and also Finale before too long, so I'll be interested to see what others may have to say about this.

Re: How much to pay a proofreader?

In the UK proofreading would come under ‘music preparation’ The Musicians’ Union minimum standard hourly rate for music preparation is £35.45 per hour (9am - 9pm and includes collection/delivery time and travel time if requested). That was in 2021. With current inflation, 10% should probably be adde...
