Re: Divisi question
Thanks Anders, somehow, I was thinking the same thing, even if "technically" they ARE playing in unison at that point.

Divisi question
I am of the opinion that indication of a divisi section should start slightly before the actual divisi when notes are beamed. When the divisi itself starts on the 1st beat of a measure, or on the 2nd beat of a measure within a beamed group, it's easy to simply create a note with stems in two directi...

Re: On the use of tablets and BT page turners
that's the brilliant thing about using the ipads for parts...
the concert master can make changes in their part, and other parts will suddenly get the same markings, if that is what is wanted.

Re: On the use of tablets and BT page turners
Three questions: - Does anybody have issues with reflected lights, glare, etc? - Who provides the iPads? Are the performers required to bring their own? - Is there any kind of a backup system if an iPad goes down? 1 - I haven't noticed anyone complain about it. 2 - the ensembles I've worked with, t...

Please tell me that it has a paragraph that specifically says "NEVER EVER DO THIS"?Unfortunately, it appears on page 309 of Behind Bars.

Re: Piano fingering example
the thumb indication in the first and last bars right hand are poorly chosen (as far as I'm concerned) in regard to position. I'd avoid the number entirely and use only the bracket, this one placed always to the left of the notes. the left hand's very first beat, I don't see any reason for the finge...

Re: Piano fingering example
Not necessarily "problematic" (except for that thumb indicator in the right hand first measure) However, I find it nauseatingly excessive, particularly considering the apparent level of difficulty of the music. This level of "fingerings on every single note and chord" is normally...

tremolo notes and ties
I know this topic has come up before, and I'm still not sure how it ended up, or if there is any sort of resolution to it. There are so many examples giving different results, that it's hard to decide which is more "logical". So, what are people's opinions on ties and single-note tremolos?...
