Dorico 6.0.20 update, BIG fix
An update to Dorico came out today, the major fix (though there are tons of minor fixes and improvements, most don's affect me, chord symbols and the like) is that you can now eliminate items from the proofreading list if they are things you don't want to change. It's a breath of fresh air, and trul...

Re: Staff and leger line thicknesses
the time signatures look strange to my eye, a bit too large. I prefer them to fit the staff exactly.
that said, I find the staff lines and ledger lines very nice. what setting did you use? I'm considering making that sort of change as well.

Re: Piano reduction
I have a prominent solo snare drum part in my viola concerto. sadly, I haven't really come up with any sort of substitution for it, nothing sounds quite right at the piano, even tapping on the piano is astoundingly difficult because the rhythm - while easy on a snare drum - is NOT quite doable on a ...

Re: Fold out page in PDF
Is the place where you have parts/score printed used to doing music? I have my scores done at the Canadian Music Centre, which is a national repository of Canadian music, along with printing and distribution services. I don't know if you have an equivalent in your country. Anyway, all to say that wh...

Re: octave line question
I think the problem with slurs is that there are simply so many possible permutations of the shape, depending on context, with so many elements to be taken into consideration, like accidentals, stems, beams, other noteheads, positions within a chord, etc... maybe it's just so complicated that no eng...

Re: octave line question
There are other issues with slurs as well (for example, when writing a slurred quadruple stop on the violin, it attaches to the wrong notes and there's no easy way to fix it other than in the finicky Engrave mode.) I could certainly adjust those slurs, but the work is so long that I'd probably spend...

Re: octave line question
I've been trying, as much as I can, to have right hand on the upper staff, and left hand on the lower staff. Most of the time this comes quite naturally since the registers match treble and bass clefs. But there are these instances where everything is in a relatively high register, and it's really i...

Thank-you all for the input.
Sometimes you've lived with a piece for so long, and seen it engraved in a certain way for so long, that it's hard to stand back and find better ways of doing it.
