Re: Treatment of cautionary accidentals in modern critical edition

What would be the reason for Bach to use a centered beam in bar 1 and not in bar 2? The music is the same.

Nicely done, everything is very clear. Anyway, some feedback and humble suggestions to improvements for the Oboe 1 part.
Maybe you could even consider fitting this music into three pages - right now the last page feels a bit empty.

Re: Dorico Pro 2 released
FWIW, the “optical” center for the dynamic letters is a human-decided horizontal position that is “embedded” into the corresponding metadata file of the chosen SMuFL font. Personally, I always thought that the optical centers in Bravura were a little off, as you’ve suggested, John. Because it’s par...

If I understand you correctly about middle line stem directions, they can actually be set in the preferences to always point down.
I agree that the accent thing is bad. I solved that for one project by creating a custom playing technique with an accent always placed outside staff.

Re: Dorico Pro 2 released
To add to all this: We all have different demands, but personally I must say that the time I save using Dorico's superior layout features is worth every single little tweak I have to do, and for my taste I do not have to do that many. No doubt, I still have more control over small details settings i...
