Re: Dorico/Lilypond/SCORE?

Interestingly, NoteAbility Pro does not seem to be ramping down development: there's a version for iPad now available. I bought just to have a go. It's not going to win any UI prizes, but there's a lot of functions, certainly.

Re: Notation program...

You can always just use the number without a bracket and add the slur. There are easy ways to repeat this or apply it globally.

Review of Finale v2.0

I'm currently trawling through 1980s back-issues of Computer Music Journal , and came across this review of Finale 2.0: its first release on "The IBM-PC". I've condensed some of the salient pronouncements. My thoughts are: how $749 was considerably more then than it is now. Also: Plus ça change... -...

Re: Notation program...

Ah..now I see the post from someone else over at the Finale Forum asking the same question. That explains it.
In fact that was me also! I was expecting the overwhelming "No changes!" that the question got there, so interested by your response.

Re: Notation program...

The more I learn about Dorico, the more I wish it had been around when I started computer typesetting of music (in 2000 or 2001). Likewise -- or even earlier. Though I doubt my G3 Power Mac would have been up to the job. When I think of the amount of time I spent creating (and adjusting) a Chord Su...

Re: Notation program...

The only feature I miss in all current software is called "do not touch what I did" and "do the rest perfectly in accordance to engraving rules". This is exactly how Dorico is designed to work. Set the rules for your Engraving, Notation and Layout Options, (i.e. in accordance with the rules) and ma...

Re: Dorico 3.5.10 released

Daniel makes some interesting comments in his blog about the future, in which he suggests they are going to focus on 'the health of the code' -- though hopefully not a la Finale -- and also 'the health of the team'. No one can argue that the team have more than earned a bit of respite, particularly ...

Re: Notation program...

The trouble is that each user wants to do 1000 different things. So the most efficient way to do them ALL is to have 3 steps: the first is one is a choice of 10 things; the next is another choice of ten things that depend on your previous choice; and the third step is one of ten that follow on from ...
