John Ruggero wrote: 06 Aug 2021, 14:12 Piano braces in the Maestro font??? Is that new?
The SMuFL spec includes piano braces, and so they are in Bravura and yes in Finale Maestro. But Finale app still draws them.

The iPad is limited to Bravura, Academico and the OS-installed fonts, due a to limitations in how fonts work on iPad.

Re: Finale fonts available for download

Thank, John. The piano brace in Dorico will be the one(s) that are in the Finale Maestro font. As said, you could change them for those in another font, or for a specially-designed graphic, using the Music Symbols Editor. There are three or four different sizes of bracket that are used for different...

Re: Finale fonts available for download

I did read somewhere that the Maestro glyphs in the new font have been revised and improved where necessary. I'm sure it's nothing that will affect metrics, but hopefully just smoothing out contours and intersections.

I still hate the Breves, which are the worst of any font!

Re: Dorico for iPad

Daniel responded on the forum about previous denials, saying "I may have been lying". There's a very interesting blog post about the development back story on the Dorico Blog: https://blog.dorico.com/2021/07/how-dorico-came-to-the-ipad-the-behind-the-scenes-story/ The timing of Sibel...

Dorico for iPad

Dorico for iPad is now a thing! This is no cut-down reader, but a fully fledged app with (nearly) all the features of the desktop app.
And also some new features which will come to Dorico 4.

Re: Finale fonts available for download

One difference between the programs is that Finale draws the piano brace from curves, whereas Dorico uses font glyphs (of varying sizes for different lengths). In Finale, you can set the parameters of the brace shape; in Dorico, you can replace the glyphs with those from another font, or from a vect...

Re: Finale fonts available for download

Again, it depends what we want to test. Here's a PDF I did in Finale a while ago, so "Maestro", not SMuFL Maestro; and the imported XML in Dorico, with Finale Maestro font. Neither are the default app's options, and I've done a bit of work on both of them. I've labelled them with the apps,...

Re: Audacity branded 'spyware' after MuseGroup acquisition

Another story about MuseGroup and troubles with the open source community. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/07/audacitys-new-owner-is-in-another-fight-with-the-open-source-community/ I know Tantacrul and some MuseScore staff read/post here occasionally, so I'm going to leave this just as 'a stor...
