Re: [Lilypond] Numerous Questions & Thoughts
That's right! I've seen your website http://editionoctoechos.com/ (at least I think it's yours). How long have you been doing this? Have you had good success? What kind of demand do you see? Where do you see the industry going?

Re: Clef design comparision
Indeed! Italian is correct, Pierre. It is the design of Giovanni Murolo.

Re: Clef design comparision
If you've got a higher resolution image, I don't see any reason why you can't crop it to just the treble clef, or even a small snippet of the score. You wouldn't be sharing the actual full score with anyone.

Re: Clef design comparision
Nicely done, Knut! Seeing more of the Menuet font family together in a score helps to visualize the cohesiveness of you designs.

Re: [MuseScore] Anyone use it?
I have not tested their MusicXML import feature much of MS (just the examples you can download from the MusicXML site with mixed results), but I'd say that would be a good way to get a feel for what its spacing algorithms are capable of. I used to use MS (pre-2.X) and it was perfect for the simple t...

Re: [Lilypond] Numerous Questions & Thoughts
I love this idea! Any recommendations of people who have been in the publishing industry who'd be willing to share some thoughts about getting things off the ground or making the best use of digitized works (i.e., a PDF download)?

Re: Lilypond
I realize this is a much delayed response to your message, NicholasG, but please don't hesitate to ask if you are having troubles getting used to the syntax. I know both Pierre and I would be happy to help. And if you subscribe to the lilypond-user mailing list, you'll see us and many other experien...

Re: Clef design comparision
Thanks! I've quite enjoyed using FontForge and Inkscape for font creation. I'm not sure I entirely understand what you are trying to convey in your last paragraph. Do you mean that we should stop re-engraving the old scores and focus on modern composers? Or do you mean stop emulating the "engra...

Re: Clef design comparision
Well, tisimst, many nice clefs, indeed. Now speaking just about my favorites: 4 and 13. No 11 is also quite fine. I know some of these are "ancient" -looking, thus not to be criticized (such are 7 and 8). Thank you for the encouragement! 4 is my own design, 13 is my SCORE replica, and 11 ...

Re: Clef design comparision
I only use FontForge, both manually and programmatically. I've found it very usable (and inexpensive ;-)). Can't say how it compares to other tools. I don't usually create the designs from scratch in FontForge, though I have done that. I usually start in Inkscape and import the outlines. Then I adju...
