Re: Rhythmical alignment between voices

Nice!
I initially assumed the piano to be right and placed a 2:1 on the first beat, then a 3:2 on the second, which adds more rests to the cello part.
Your solution is definitely more elegant!

Rhythmical alignment between voices

How would you write this bar? It's in 3/4 time, and I believe it is clear as is for musicians, but it clearly doesn't fit in 3/4. Screenshot 2024-03-08 at 14.42.34.png If one assumes the piano to be the correct one, the other two parts need to be heavily altered. I will share the option I've chosen—...

What did you choose for your edition, in the end?

Re: Gould's Repeat Mark-Clef Rule

Neera, could you show some examples? I'm not sure what you mean. I could not reproduce this in Dorico, which prevents me from having a double barline followed by a start-repeat, it only allows the opposite. I have cooked this up in Sibelius. Screenshot 2024-03-07 at 11.36.34.png Please notice that ...

Re: Lyrics: to uppercase or not to uppercase?

The source I'm using follows @Harpsichordmaker's suggestion, and it is a German source from 1810. The extra stanzas of the poems are written below the music because it repeats exactly the same, and it shows capitalised first letter of every verse. In my editions I would provide the full text in any ...

Lyrics: to uppercase or not to uppercase?

In my eclectic editorial journey, I am now starting to dedicate some time to chamber vocal music. When copying the material from the original source, I found that the start of a new verse is not uppercased in the lyrics, while it is when one reads the full poem in a book. First: when did the practic...

Re: Gould's Repeat Mark-Clef Rule

Now that I think of it, I have never encountered an "endstart repeat" (to use Dorico's language) with a double barline in between the two repeat marks. I would find that redundant. The use I have for double barline +repeat mark is when the section after the end-repeat is a new, non-repeate...

Re: Gould's Repeat Mark-Clef Rule

No, I've never seen this applied to any among the good editions I have browsed—but my knowledge is far from comprehensive, of course. The point you made is fascinating, since I had never looked at the repeat mark as "a mark" instead of "a barline". This is possibly due to me star...

Re: Gould's Repeat Mark-Clef Rule

I may be daydreaming, but isn't there now an option for Dorico to place clef change before the repeat barline?
