I think it's been often said here that Finale's default settings for slurs could also do with some adjustment. (And indeed, I've followed advice here for improving the values.)

Hyphenation should be done to dictionary word divisions, usually split along etymological and phonetic grounds. Consonants should NEVER be placed "where they sound", which is a hideous trend in recent years. Jucio Brennan's hyphenator is not infallible, though it seems to get it right here...

I think this is from the 1950s. (Stainer & Bell's current address is N3, so that might be some indication.) I've seen similar scores for BBC Singers music from the 50s. It's got to be from a time when it was feasible to print the header and footer with handwritten music.

I'm trying to think of another example, where I have seen em dashes used within lyric lines. And I can't come up with a single one. Which may be indicative of something in itself.

It looks excellent for music use and similar to that used by at least Durand in the past. It does indeed look like a lovely font to accompany music. I'll be interested when the other styles have been made. However, of all the publishers I'd want to emulate, I'm not sure Durand is on the list..... :...
