Re: Engravers vs Composers: Stem Direction 2

+1 for David. I am one of the few younger composers who still compose on paper. I can confirm David's explanation: with an extreme quick writing of an idea I don't change position of my hand and it results in engraving (notational!) oddities. I think these oddities are beautiful but definitely not c...

Re: Maestro G Clef

I have tried to copy what Knut has done, using FontForge but it is really hard! I will not show my result... but yes, I got very inspired by how Knut made it. I have a question: is there any difference between programs when editing vector curves?

Re: # and natural symbols

It's interesting how Durand, at least in the specific case of Tzigane, slightly repositions sharps that fall on ledger lines to compensate for the effect that OCTO is talking about. I've never been aware of this before, and the few alternative publishers I've checked, do not bother with this. :) In...

Re: # and natural symbols

Dear Knut, I have printed your file and one thing I have noticed quite immediately: Screen shot 2016-01-14 at 3.13.12 PM.png When I commented the angle of horizontal lines in :s , I meant the following: in combination with ledgered noteheads, the bottom horizontal line of :s seems to be to high, the...

Knut, I think it is pretty nice now.
If you can provide a PDF so that we can print out would be good.

Re: Maestro G Clef

Amazingly beautifully done, Knut!
Maybe the middle line should be not straight but a bit bent?

What software do you use? Is it Fontographer?

Re: SSL browsing

It doesn't matter what browser you use as far as you use the encrypted protocol called https , for whatever site. When you see http it is unencrypted. When you visit a site, your connection to it bounces through usually more than 10 nodes worldwide. If it is un-encrypted, an attacker can read whatev...
