A comparison of Wess' font (VintageGHMA) and tisimst's Beethoven style (in the Finale form BetvnFIN) can also be found in the music font comparison: Haydn Example: https://elbsound.studio/music-font-comparison.php?font=VintageGHMA&example=4&font2=BetvnFIN Liszt Example: https://elbsound.stud...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

John, thanks a lot for your words! Yes, the bow markings disappear, but this is a feature - as this image is the feature overview (see copy below). Usually the conductor doesn't need all bow markings, so it's possible to hide them in the score (though there may be other scores where it makes sense t...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

benwiggy, thanks a lot for your words! The plug-in has indeed many layer/voice/accidental/dots spacing correction functions. Check out the Example 4/Note Spacing document from the Perfect Layout example page (in the PDF page 5 before/page 6 after plug-in): https://elbsound.studio/perfect-layout/exam...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

The plug-in is now available for Finale/Windows: https://elbsound.studio/perfect-layout/overview.php MacOS is still in development - here a preview . Thanks a lot for the many suggestions, hints and comments that I received from this forum during the development of the plug-in. Jan https://elbsound....

Re: Finale or Sibelius

The Finale core is single-threaded, i.e. where the note/layout processing is done. I don't know if Finale/MacOS opens up threads for other reasons (for example Window handling). But have you noticed that Finale really handles multiple things at the same time? On Windows it doesn't. This is different...

Re: Finale or Sibelius

Here is a screencam video that demonstrates the "minimized" screen behaviour above: Finale's plugin performance is 23% better when it runs in minimized mode compared to full screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l3F5ZfIIz4 In minimized mode the plugin takes 13,45 seconds, in full screen...

Re: Finale or Sibelius

64bit doesn't have to do with multi-threading. In simple words 64bit only means that the memory blocks that the processor processes are 64bit wide and not 32bit, and that it can address larger memory sizes (so you can easily address more than 4 GB RAM in 64bit, but not in 32bit which is limited to 4...

Re: Finale or Sibelius

Stupid question, but running Finale on Windows is not an option for you? And there is one thing one may not forget: Finale is single-threaded. It means Finale doesn't take advantage of the new multi-processor developments from the last 10 years (as for example image or video processing software does...

Re: Finale or Sibelius

Do you work with a "clean" template in Finale? I used to work with a Finale template that grew from about 2006 to 2014. It got extremely slow over the years. For example in Fin2014 (or 2014.5?) opening the score manager took about 20 seconds. Then I redid the template from scratch. Took a ...
