Re: Sibelius and font kerning

Displaying Chordsymbols means in general: put symbols from different fonts in different sizes next to each other in different directions. I assume that sibelius does not use kerning information, because it is only appliable for glyphs of the same font and size and running left to right and so it doe...

Re: Berklee guide to music notation

I bought it longer ago. It is meant for students to learn music notaiton resp. improve their skills. Homwork pages included.
There is nothing particular on "theory", at least I did not notice that, when browsing through.

Re: Support Notatio

Also, the Columbus Soft (that produces PriMus software) has also very generously donated - many thanks, as well! (I am not sure if they are the forum member, or just a visitor).
That's me, Christof Schardt.
Just wanted to thank you for providing this extremly helpful resource and community.

Re: [ANN] Ten Music Notation Programs, second edition

This document presents a one-page score as engraved by ten of the most popular music notation programs: =0[/url] I'd like to see the PriMus sample page added. The page has already been provided by Andreas Gramm in this post: http://notat.io/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=217&start=10#p4188 Yes, and in...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

Absolutely astonishing work, Jan. Agreeing to most of Johns points I would add three remarks regarding the orchestra score: 1. violin 1, bar 4,5: harpins significantly closer to the lower staff, which irritates. Obviously caused by the low mf in the bare before. But later we see other dynamics place...

Re: swing eighths question

playback, I found an alignment solution: I entered a rest as the middle character of a triplet, hid the rest, and also hid the "3" of the triplet. The I would not recommend it at all, since not common practice and like John I have never seen it before. Look the huge Kapustin opus, which h...

Re: swing eighths question

Should the indicated notes align vertically? Or is it standard notation practice in swing/jazz for them not to? I think as a jazz-transcriber you never reflect the ternary timing of eights-pairs by the position of the notes or the amount of space. This would result in an unequal look of sequences o...

Re: Music Preparation Guidelines (from MOLA)

Spiral bound parts are a nightmare for orchestra librarians. They take up a lot of storage space and the spirals are always getting tangled up with each other. ..orchestra librarians... : That's the term I'd been unsuccessfully looking for to translate the german Notenwart . Indeed, these are the p...
