Re: Ambitus Question
Sorry, I at first had a lower-percentage view, but then saw they were rests, not notes.

Re: Ambitus Question
Thanks for the enlightenment, benwiggy.
One thing I don't understand in the example you linked to is the semibreves at the beginning of the Bassus voice. Do you know what they mean? They are full-sized notes but don't seem to have anything to do with the sung music.

Re: Ambitus Question
Isn't the following the most natural and least cluttered way to do it? Madrigal.jpg I personally find it difficult to interpret the small noteheads before the TS as something that should be sounded, i.e. as anything else than the ambituses/ambiti(?) of each voice. The example is from a popular, prac...

Re: Legitmacy of Dotted Tuplets
Thanks again OCTO. I wasn't aware that you need a plugin for this in Sibelius.

Re: A Swedish Song From 1903
In m. 34 of the MS there's just a half note in the right hand of m. 34 - the last quarter is missing. Harmonically, in this style, tt's very unusual that a I64 chord, as at the beginning of m. 34, should not be followed by a resolution into a V7 chord before the cadential goal, I (m. 35). The three ...

Re: Legitmacy of Dotted Tuplets
Thanks OCTO. I wasn't sure how to handle plugin files when I read your earlier post. Since I'm a Finale user, do you happen to know of something similar for that program?

Re: Slur placement/shape
I think the issue here is transferring an orchestral score into a piano reduction. In the score/parts it's quite logical to have the detailed dynamics in the different woodwind instruments, "knowing nothing about each other", or not exactly. In the piano reduction they are not necessary.

Re: Slur placement/shape
You are welcome.
I was wondering about an English word for the pianist accompanying the singers in an opera rehearsal - could it be 'repetitor', 'corepetitor' or what? I couldn't find it in my dictionaries.

Re: Slur placement/shape
You are very welcome. Glad to be of help.
I have nothing much to do this summer (my clients are already on holiday apparently), so if you would need some more assistance, just ask.

Re: Slur placement/shape
Just an idea: To capture more of the orchestral sound and the crescendo-diminuendo of the two measures (and also giving an A to the singer in good time), this might be a possibility:
(The 32nds may be distributed between the hands as pointed out.)
