The omission occurs first! Sorry - that's the crucial bit of info.
The slurring is also sloppier at the start, and seems to improve, so perhaps they gave the first few pages to the apprentice.

dots and triplets
I'm working on a piece of Haydn, from the original Breitkopf printed edition of 1780s. Similar musical phrases are repeated, but they seem to be written in two different ways. One like this: Screenshot 8.png and one like this: Screenshot.png EDIT: (the music appears without the triplet FIRST.) Now I...

Re: New treble clef
My goal is ultimately to harmonize it with Trinite. That's a nice font. I looked at buying it, but £374.16 per weight, or the complete set discounted to £1,867.93 is a little out of my range. Font designers gotta eat, but still.... As for your clef: really interesting. It reminds me (and this is me...

Re: Drawing treble clefs
Making a font, Dan...?
Not only is it one of the hardest, it's also one of the first things you're likely to try. Tracing the outline of a scanned image will help, though it's hard to get hi-res enough scans, given the spongey nature of ink-engraving.

Re: Center line stemming
I've just made sure that my defaults are those recommended by Vaughan, and with Daniel's threshold adjustments, and that does work well.

Re: Center line stemming
This is a quote that I often pull out: "We have heard it said that when the noteheads are above the third line, the stems are turned down, and when below the third line, the steps are turned up; also that when notes are on the third line, the stems are turned up if the stem of the following not...

Re: The Dolphin, Number 2, 1935
I wonder: has anyone made a font of that old Breitkopf "modern type"? As for The Dolphin: I ticked the No.2 box with a page image, then clicked the Download 'icon" in the top right. Then under Downloads in the sidebar, I could download the file. (There's a bit of click-through, but th...

Re: The Dolphin, Number 2, 1935
I used to have a book that was a little history of '400 years of music printing', produced by the British Library, (sadly, I can't find it on my shelves...), which covered all this stuff in sufficient detail. But this is lovely. And as with notation software, it's true that InDesign doesn't make you...

Just once again, to say how much I love your extraordinary insight.
