Re: Centered beams in Mozart's K. 330

At the arrow in measure Y, he uses centered beams, rather difficult ones to draw. As a composer who primarily writes all of my music by hand, I can "confess" that the writing of such beams is largely determined by the angle at which the paper is positioned relative to your hand.  This pos...

Re: Finale ceases development

I agree with you @Harpsichordmaker .  I haven't compiled any software and I don't have time to learn how to do it.  This idea is by one of the MS developers when I asked.  I was frustrated equally much at the beginning.

But why not to try it, and see how it works?

Re: Finale ceases development

Does that mean you cant use custom text fonts either? You can use any text font.  As said, you can use any musical font as well , but you need to compile MS by yourself from the source code.  I don't know how to do it though. If the platform is so important, and if there isn’t an automatic font sub...

Re: Finale ceases development

P.S. The reason why they don't allow custom fonts (yet that you can change if you can edit the source code!) is their platform for sharing music musescore.com — if everyone used their own fonts it would impossible to use it.

Re: Finale ceases development

I am reading Musescore has much improved, it could become a competitor? I was considering downloading Musescore just in case (not needed just now: I own Sibelius and Dorico, never used Finale). While evaluating if Musescore has any known shortcoming about engraving my necessities (baroque, early cl...

Re: Tried to use the smallest "allowed" staff size, but I think I still could include more measures per page

The problem with reducing staff size is, as I believe in Dorico as well, that it reduces proportionally the staff lines, stems and font sizes equally. But it the practice it shouldn't be the case.  The engravers knife is always of the same size, only the pressure applied to the metal plate.  It mean...

Re: The End of FINALE

Frankly speaking, I think the version 25 is a rock solid and can be used for years if note decades ahead.  And of course, there will no be "updates" that brings more bugs, that everyone was afraid of. People who make absolutely amazing scores, such as Wess-music, still work with 2012.  Man...

Re: Vintage BH: New SMuFL Fonts

If I may ask you, NorFonts, you have produced so many fonts already, do you have a success selling them and also do you have any success stories where they are used? About examples: it would be better to use a template file with various elements closer to each other. It means, it would't be difficul...
