Re: How to make an orchestral performance part from loose sheets of paper.

I went looking for more of his videos, but only found one about the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra library.

Re: Staff Pad

This product was discussed at the MM Forum a little while ago, and it was pointed out that a Mac user could use a PC tablet now and transfer files to their desk computer via XML, which is all that would happen with an iPad>Mac system. I envision contests with speed engravers competing for large priz...

Re: Unstable articulations in Finale

I posted over at MM forum as well, and OCTO replied there, supplying some more information about this bug and others that he had posted last year including some nice videos. I have no idea why I never encountered this before. But this is apparently not uncommon because, as Knut mentions, it depends ...

Re: Unstable articulations in Finale

Knut, thanks for the interesting suggestion. It would give me a good excuse to do some more experimenting with FontForge. However, a simple work-around has just occurred to me: I'll do any fine editing of articulations in scroll view, since all staves are 100% and there is no problem. I hate scroll ...

Unstable articulations in Finale

The following bug has been confirmed today by MakeMusic: articulations placed on staves in reduced sizes appear to jump rightward when selected with the select tool in Finale 2014 (and 2011 and probably other versions). They return to their correct positions when the screen is redrawn or resized. On...

Re: Inkscape crashing

Thanks, OCTO. I am taxing InDesign CS4 to the limit with my book on piano technique, which includes a lot of cross-referencing, and I am not sure Scribus would be able to handle it. I will check it out though. It would probably be sufficient for my normal needs, assuming that it imports and prints P...

Re: Inkscape crashing

Thank you for reminding me about Affinity, dspreadbury. Someone had mentioned it to me several months ago and it slipped my mind. I will download the free trial to see what it is like. I that understand that they are also working on an alternative to InDesign to which I would migrate if I can bring ...

Re: Font collections

Thanks for the tips, OCTO and Knut. I am moving to FontForge via SVG. Once into Finale, I find that my clef has to be 73 points to equal a 24 pt Maestro clef! I must be getting the scale wrong in Inkscape. In any case, it is not ready for prime time yet, but I will reveal it as soon as I feel good a...

Re: Copyrights in modern editions

Thank you, OCTO, for considering my opinion. I agree completely with you that copyright protection should not go on forever, and probably for a shorter time than is currently the law, especially for derivative works like editions of public domain music.
