Do you guys see this as acceptable?

Re: Dorico development issue

the thing is, when Gould says for example that you shouldn't use a bracket for certain instrument groups in an orchestra score, and that the first 10 scores from different publishers I pull out of my library all contradict what she is saying, then there is at least some support for ignoring Gould an...

Re: unison wih different value noteheads, question

how do we feel about parentheses? should I use them in this context? or just the accidental? annoyingly, I've made a playback technique for the accidental, and removing the parentheses respaces things so that the little sharp symbol ends up immediately next to the :piano dynamic. So I get :piano :s ...

Re: unison wih different value noteheads, question

I think in this case it would be a small articulation-like accidental, under the staff (since it's the down-stem voice that could cause an issue), at the stem end or below the notehead.
I'll look and see what the end result gives.

Dorico development issue

purely an opinion, and one based on a relatively more limited knowledge of the material at hand than most people on this forum here, but.. I think that the Dorico development team's over-reliance on Gould's "Behind bars" is an error. So far, while I find much of Behind Bars' material to be...

Re: unison wih different value noteheads, question

considering a C natural would REALLY not fit the harmony at that point, I'm going to cross my fingers and hope it's self-explanatory. a few measures earlier there's an almost identical passage, but with B natural (with no displayed accidental) instead of C#, so it would be natural to assume that the...

Re: unison wih different value noteheads, question

so the fact that there is no natural sign implies that the quarter note C is also sharp?

thank-you.
this will look much neater in the score/part.

Re: DaFalla piece

I'm imagining that it was placed above as a way of avoiding the extra space it would cause before the note, considering there is that curved bracket between the low C and the E.
