Re: Finale Slur Settings

OCTO., your new slur thickness settings are very nice, especially if one wishes to imitate hand engraving. So now we encounter a matter of philosophy which I don't think has been discussed yet on this forum, but is a very important underlying theme: is our goal to imitate all the features of hand-en...

Re: Font SEBASTIANO

How interesting. I never noticed this before, perhaps because the wedge is not usually as pronounced as in this font. Re: Finale Slur Settings

Knut, after investigating tie thickness, I find that I have no issues with the Finale defaults because I like Finale's default slur thickness, and the two are the same at .25 spaces. So it appears that we are in agreement as far the homogeneity of slurs and ties. I prefer that slurs recede into the ...

Re: Beethoven's terminology?

I think that Beethoven know exactly what he wanted: an intimate rendition. There are many cases where composers omit dynamic signs because an exact dynamic is not the point. A correct dynamic will arise naturally if the players achieve the correct feeling. For this reason, he specifies an exact expr...

Re: Engraver vs Engraver; Editor vs Editor

The editor simply decided that standard stem direction should be applied and the engraver followed orders. This is typical of many Henle editorial decisions. The notation is modernized for no reason other than standardization and without the player being informed of the fact. I have given examples o...
