Re: Flat slurs
Isn't that what the gClefSmall glyph in SMuFL is supposed to be? An optically sized clef for use at small sizes. Which would then kind of make sense that as the size approaches full size, the symbols reverts to the 'normal' size one.

Re: Flat slurs
I don't think that Dorico 'double dips' the scaling. There's an Engraving Option for the size of clef change clefs, but the default should be a 66%-sized clef, even if it is the small glyph. You're right that from 71% upwards, it uses the standard clef glyph, scaled. More confusingly, the small clef...

Re: Sebastian SMuFL font
I admire the people who stick with Finale for their ability to tolerate frustration. Love it! I've updated Sebastian v1.01, with various fixes and improvements. It now has the best bracket wings and breves of any font! Unless there are any major problems or glaring issues, then I think it's a prett...

Re: Introducing Sovietta!
One thing you might want to change is the text fonts: I think you've used Plantin? If you want to match the original, I'd use Monotype Modern Bold.

Re: Philosophy of Music Notation
I am looking to collate the various academic books, papers, essays, and presentations concerning music notation. Please post any you can think of: All of them? There has been 'quite a lot'. Most texts on the subject of music will describe or discuss notation at some point: Gaffurius, Practica Music...

Re: Sebastian SMuFL font
Are you really writing rule cases for every conceivable font? What happens if I have my own custom font, unknown to Perfect Layout?

Re: Sebastian SMuFL font
After some very useful feedback, I've released version 1.00, which has over 1000 glyphs. https://github.com/fkretlow/sebastian/releases/tag/v1.0 I'm pretty happy with it. I dare say keener eyes will find things to improve. But I would plan that it can be used now in projects, and any updates to the ...

Re: Feedback and suggestions on hand-drawn clefs
I’m working only in Dorico now, so I can’t use the Finale fonts until they become SMuFL (which I think is in the works). A SMuFL version of Maestro has been 'in the works' since 2015. There is of course no commercial point for MM to release it (for Dorico users to use!) until Finale itself is fully...

Re: Feedback and suggestions on hand-drawn clefs
I agree that if you do something like that to the clefs, then everything else should match in some way, otherwise it will look a bit random. And it does look a little casual for my tastes. Personally, I have a strong aversion to handwritten fonts -- in music and text -- because very few of them look...
