Re: DaFalla piece

I'm imagining that it was placed above as a way of avoiding the extra space it would cause before the note, considering there is that curved bracket between the low C and the E.

Re: unison wih different value noteheads, question

it's from the score, but the part is on one staff, the same disposition.
The divisi is too short to really warrant having an extra staff for that passage.

unison wih different value noteheads, question

when there is a passage of divisi, for example in a violin section, and a unison note occurs, with an accidental (for example, both parts playing the same C#). but one part is playing a half note (white notehead) and the other is playing a quarter note (black notehead), should the accidental be repe...

Re: crescendo

they imply a dynamic only for the right hand notes, but of course, the cresc. part of the dynamic is impossible on a piano.

I believe Dorico has an option for doing this automatically (only for stems).

Re: Grand staff hairpins/dynamics w/ cross-staff beaming

Anders, there's no "rule" as far as I know, but there are simply instances in my score where the placement of hairpins becomes clunky when there are lots of cross-staff beaming and stems. John Ruggero earlier in this thread posted an excellent sample from some Ravel that had lots of hairpi...

Felipe
the image you posted has the hairpins crossing stems.
did you mean beams? (stems are the vertical lines, beams are the horizontal/diagonal ones)

Re: Fermata

maybe some misguided effort to have the voice avoid doing an a-mennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn rather then an a-meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen?

it's a hand-written score, I'd chalk it up to a writing error.
