Re: The biggest scandal in music publishing

I just checked on the Fadini edition, which looks like an excellent critical edition. Ricordi says that it is free from editorial suggestions etc. so what is still needed is a complete, well-edited, urtext edition at a reasonable price. Something like what is available for the complete works of all...

Re: The biggest scandal in music publishing

John, it’s a pity very few people outside the harpsichord world (and even inside the harpsichord world) do know the Fadini Edition (Ricordi publ.). Emilia Fadini was an Italian scholar and harpsichordist who dedicated her life to Scarlatti and to concerts and teaching (most of the nouvelle vague of ...

An interesting discussion

I hope it’s not forbidden to post links to other forums.
There is a very interesting discussion on Typedrawers, concerning a new software for rinascimental music, music fonts and the like.

Up- and down- flags: different widths

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I was reading Leonardo Vinci’s “Erighetta e don Chilone”, ETS Edition, and I noticed the down-stem note flags have a larger width than the up-stem’s: IMG_9766p.jpg I - sort of - like it. The down-stem flags nicely support the nothehead, while the up-stem fla...

Re: SCORE-based fonts

Time to produce fonts with different weights to adapt to the various line widths? I mean, something like the "pro" text fonts: caption, regular, display and so on. I didn’t know until today, but I discovered this is something Lilypond does, hence the fonts coming with LP come in different...

Re: SCORE-based fonts

We do say that :) It's maybe worth pointing out that the weight of the symbols in SCORE's output is down to what line width setting you use when printing (i.e. generating the EPS); that determines what width of stroke is applied to the paths of all symbols, though it's possible to specify a modifie...

SCORE-based fonts

From here: https://notat.io/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=695 It is font Vienna, used in Finale. I do love that font too, and yes half notehead is one of the finest among all fonts in my opinion. It is based on SCORE. Thanks OCTO. After reading your post I did a research on SCORE-derived fonts, and found ...

Re: Comparison of music text fonts

N. 3. It is dark and very legible notwithstanding the low x-height. It’s condensed, which helps in many scores.

Re: Nice text font for music

Here are three versions, the top one is my Muzitex v3, that really stands out, without trouble for reading, I think I still wait for a proper font to replace it fully: Screen Shot 2021-01-09 at 23.55.05.jpg Screen Shot 2021-01-09 at 23.55.14.jpg Screen Shot 2021-01-09 at 23.56.43.jpg What a beautif...
