Re: The other November 2 issue

I should have checked before posting, sorry. Forget my post. In the documentation I overlooked this passage: Sibelius 6, 7, 7.5 and up, Mac only The compatibility is not as optimal as with Dorico or Finale 2014, but there are workable solutions. In a way, the situation is similar to pre-2012 Finale ...

The other November 2 issue

Here is my second issue with November 2. Sibelius Ultimate on Mac. If I go on Text/Format/click the lower right square, I get this: Screenshot 2022-12-10 alle 19.33.13.png It's in Italian, but I guess you can understand. Now, If I select November 2 as my main music font and click Ok, and I re-click ...

Two November 2 issues

I have two issues with November 2. I'll put here just one as it seems a design issue (but may be a software issue, I don't know). The other one is software-related and I'll write in another forum. So, due to the somewhat large tail of the 8th, the dot of a dotted 8th crashes against the tail provide...

Re: Not strictly engraving, but rather notation question

I had originally written accel poco a poco , for the first four measures, then at the new tempo, più mosso, ma tempo giusto ( :4 = 76) however, I was told this was somewhat wonky Italian. I have no suggestion for your question but as an Italian I can only say that's perfectly correct Italian. I cou...

Re: The biggest scandal in music publishing

If you think that the fingering would differ so extensively for harpsichord and piano, I would vote for three versions, then, one unfingered, one prepared by an expert harpsichordist and one by an expert pianist, musicians who have performed the sonatas extensively. As for the different fingerings,...

Re: The biggest scandal in music publishing

Hi, NeeraWM - Michele! I'm Italian myself. I'm sorry to say I have neither the time nor the inclination to embark myself in a similar project, which of course I wish you to succeed wholeheartedly. More important, John Ruggero has a very clear idea of what to do and so he is the one who could carry o...

What an incredible work! And freely-downloadable, too. That’s very generous. Beautifully engraved, too (that’s no surprise).

If so, yes, Fadini does retain the most of the notational particularities.

Re: The biggest scandal in music publishing

Just "looked inside" Volume 10 of the Fadini edition (Sheetmusicplus) and it's the same modern (?) notation as the Gilbert - guess I need to get used to it. Also, K1 is #517; it was mentioned previously that the Kirkpatrick editions are not in fact in chronological order, which I though w...

Re: The biggest scandal in music publishing

Yes, of course my preference for unfingered editions is just that - my own preference, for the reasons I outlined. And of course I agree there should be a cheaper printed complete edition. About 100 sonatas are printed in urtext by Henle, fingered. 4 volumes have been published until now, don’t know...
