Re: Differentiation of text sizes in score and parts
LilyPond can do that, not only for font sizes but also font shapes, names, colors, … \version "2.21.0" violin = \relative { c'\ff d e^"pizz." f g-\markup \italic "espress." a b c } viola = \relative { \clef alto a\mp b c d e f g a } fullscorelayout = \layout { \context ...

Re: Comparing text fonts (Operatic Score)
Why „balance between clarity and readability“? Most serif fonts that are made for long texts are well readable and clear.

Re: The shape of the crotchet rest
Almost anything seems to be acceptable, as long as it is easily distinguishable from an eighth rest. The reverse eighth rest as a quarter rest was thus doomed from the start. The quarter (semiminima) rest started as a reversed eighth (fusa) rest in white mensural notation, didn’t it? So it would be...

Re: Optical spacing
I agree, but MuseScore isn’t really better. I’m a bit surprised that only Sibelius and LilyPond do optical spacing correctly here …

Re: New to engraving...am I on the right track?
Oh, ok. Is that so? I apologize for the bad advice. It seems in German hyphenation works a bit different then. Yes, German hyphenation mostly follows the spoken syllables. However, it is allowed to hyphenate at former word borders like in „Inter-esse“ and „her-auf“, although the Duden prefers „Inte...

Re: Short Slurs (Octaves)
I’m not an slur expert but have a slightly off-topic suggestion: The clef change should be at a full beat, i. e. an eight later after the g. Apart from the beat it would also make clearer that it’s f♯ g f♯ e d … and not f♯ e d …

Re: Riemann: an OpenType font for functional analysis
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way, either Sibelius nor Finale. I don't have Dorico to test. Hm … Maybe one should think of other symbols instead of _ and - then. Any suggestions? Is it possible to add :n :s :f in to the font? Yes, that would be possible. I first thought one could make this as ...

Re: Riemann: an OpenType font for functional analysis
Also: how do you create "11" or "13"? For now: just put every digit in a separate column: D-1-3 Same for "9>" etc. Maybe ligatures would be nice here. I also tried to find a solution for inputting several lines as lines instead of columns. But that would mean that one ...
