Re: How to create a complete font?

Thanks for clarification, I guessed it correctly! :)
Why should we not use just one type? Why TTF and OTF? I know a bit what difference is, but if we use OTF in Finale, Sibelius and others, wouldn't it just be OK?

Re: fonts.openlilylib.org in Finale

The only thing that I really need help with is the development of Finale's FAN files. I don't own Finale, so I can't generate FAN files and I can't test the fonts, so I'd need someone else's help to make sure things are working correctly. Can I make that small request? I am more than happy to conve...

Re: How to create a complete font?

Thank you, it is really a great answer. I like also Inkscape and FontForge and I will see if and how I will progress. But I see it as a very demanding task, actually. For your point 5. you believe that Portrace and Autotrace is not working well? I have tried it before, I don't remember how was the o...

How to create a complete font?

Hello everyone. I am curious what is the way to create a complete new font from zero. There are two approaches as I understand: 1. To design manually own symbols, 2. To "copy" font from a publication. Questions: 1. How difficult is to manually create a font? Is this the way one create a mu...

Re: How many slashes for unmeasured tremolos (including beamed)?

Somewhat OT, but rather strangely I can view your .tiff file in Safari, but not in (latest) Firefox, which I use by default. This also applies to your recent .tiff in another thread here, and with two different Mac OS. I get the same experience using Opera. Odd... If anyone knows what I've done wro...

I wonder why the dot forces the music not to respace. Something they might be working on, perhaps?
Long discussion!:

Re: How many slashes for unmeasured tremolos (including beamed)?

Sorry to bring this thread up again, but I have to ask since I'm pretty sure the tremoli in the Violin/Viola sections, top system, are intended to be played at the same repetitions regardless of the note's duration, but is the tremolo notation correct? Should they always have 4 tremolo slashes or s...

Re: Brahms Op. 119, No. 1

I have attached an engraving of the Brahms intermezzo, which is in the style of a critical edition. Beautifully done, John! Your and Knut's edition is very close each other for my eyes... Some thoughts: 1. I would like to avoid Maestro, particularly flags and rests. 2. Sizes and margines: somehow K...
