Spacing problems with unisons

For my layout plugin I am experimenting with automatic correction of some Finale spacing issues. Example image 1 is Finale's default output (Problem: the second unison note is not taken into account with accidental collision and is too close to the first unison note). Image 2 is what my plugin creat...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

I have made another test file created with the automatic staff spacing plugin. The "Before" PDF has the original Finale output, the other PDF the output after processing the file with the plugin (and other plugins). https://elbsound.studio/download.php?f=Tristan%27s%20Test%20Score%20Before...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

Thanks, Knut and John.
And yes, of course, there are some parameters available like top/bottom margin distance, standard single line (i.e. percussion staves) and 5-lines distance and an extra distance factor for the (larger) group distance.

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

After some time I have uploaded another test video that shows a nice distribution of the staves after the staff layout optimization plugin has been run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9KaxtMingU Two scenarios are shown: - a typical unoptimized page with some overlappings - a completely crunched pa...

Re: Font / engraving help for a music video

The following fonts are a good alternative to mimic the look above: - SWMusic (nearly 100% identical with the image above, but very difficult to implement in Finale, http://www.fontsner.com/font/SWMusic-70683.html) - Burnside (from https://www.fontshop.com/families/burnside/buy , available for Final...

No, of course not, especially when they still collide like in the video. It was just a demonstration that it is possible to have both sorts of clefs in a score at the same time.

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

Regarding clefs for condensed scores: another solution is to slightly rotate the clefs. So you don't mess up the clef style by mixing different fonts. In this video the clefs from the two top staves were rotated by 0.06° with a JW Lua script in Finale. It's a bit tricky to do in Finale's Shape Desig...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

This should only be done if the assigned default music font contains both styles of treble clef (both an upright and slanted/rotated) as stylistic alternates for this specific purpose. Otherwise, the chances of it looking good are fairly slim. I agree with that. It's indeed only an optional setting...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

Thanks for the input, John, Christof and Knut ! I am busy the next days, but will answer next week. Here is a bit on Christof's and Knut's remarks. And regarding the other score: 1. Flipping the 6-tuplets to the other side would remove the hairpin-collision without inferring new conflicts. Opposed t...

Re: Automatic Staff/System Spacing

One new feature is the automatic violin clef change that allows more condensation on empty staves: Haydn font instead of Maestro (see example score 2 bottom staves). The dynamic expressions now don't use rectangular boundary boxes anymore, but cut-out boundary boxes as in SMuFL. This allows for a be...
