That was extremely helpful. I didn't know for this particular calculation.

Re: Spatial piece

Not to sound too condescending, but if the score is supposed to be in spatial notation (as in "horizontal space on the page corresponds to absolute time"), indications like metronome marks are pretty meaningless. As are ritardandi and fermatas. While I totally understand your comment, her...

Spatial piece

Page no2 from an earlier work. Feel free to comment and suggest improvements.
It was performed numerous times from the score, 11 pages in total. All musicians had A3 size, no conductor. It was not problem at all.

Re: Dynamics: the optical center

Ha!. There will always be different opinions when aesthetic judgement is involved. I think we both have similar view of what feels right, but mine is perhaps half a space further to the left. Neither are incorrect as there is no fixed rule. I also like more as you do. I think it is visually problem...

Re: On Beaming

Fred, you are absolutely right that the rules should (must) be followed, at least to have consensus about it. Otherwise, in the engraving jobs there are plenty of people who don't have a slightest idea how notation works, and they would end up with terrible scores which they call "great".....

Re: On Beaming

Interesting. When I first saw that post I tried not to read the text but first to look at the pictures. I guessed some comparison is to be made. I liked the most the last version. There is small difference between m.9 in the examples 2 and 3. Concerning this, I was wondering if it is possible to mak...

Re: Algorithms of accidental spacings

It would be absolutely more than fantastic if some plate-engravers could join here to learn more about the accidental-spacing and their decision for differentiation.
