"Representation and analysis of musical structures in heart signals can benefit understanding of cardiac electrophysiology aberrations such as arrhythmias, which can in turn aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias." Sort of an interesting paper anyway:

There is a proposed link between Beethoven and Arrhythmia too. (Seems pretty speculative)

Definitely "a heart-rending interpretation".

"The characteristic syncopated rhythms of premature contractions can be found in composed music, such as that of Beethoven. Because of this striking similarity, cardiologists Luderitz, Cheng, and more recently Goldberger et al. amongst others, have speculated that Beethoven may have suffered from arrhythmia, and that distinctive rhythms in his compositions represent musical electrograms of his abnormal heart rhythms."

A classic case of academics finding their area of expertise in everything they observe.

At first glance I believed it was a percussion part from Varese's "Ameriques".
