How to Notate Repeat Section Without Voice Part?

Post by ScoreBig »

Hi Everyone,

I have a basic score that has two parts -- piano and voice. I want to repeat a section that is sung the first time, but the second time the section is played without voice and the piano in the treble clef plays the vocal part (melody) and the piano bass clef is unchanged. Is there a way to notate this with a repeat sign, with additional notation presumably, so that it's clear that only the piano plays as described here on the repeat?

Thank you,
-Bryce

Is studio parts we will commonly mark the voice "1st time only" and the right hand of the piano "2nd time only". We would use "Tacet 1st time" for the piano if the section is repeated multiple times.
