PM sits in Outbox folder

I'm trying to send a PM here on the forum but it has been sitting in the Outbox folder for few days now, and it is absent from the Sent folder.
Can anyone help in understanding what is going on?

I seem to recall that's just how this forum software works. It sits in Outbox until it has been read by the recipient, at which point it gets moved to Sent.
