If Dorico had Dorico...

Post by benwiggy »

I was transcribing a piece by Palestrina into Dorico, when I suddenly noticed that the 16th-century printed source I was reading was ... by Dorico!

So I then started thinking: what if Dorico had Dorico? A short time later, I produced this page in the style of a 16th-century partbook:
Palestrina Dorico.pdf
(73.82 KiB) Downloaded 152 times
I've managed to match his original system breaks (except for one). I think he'd be rather impressed with the result.

There was, once, a music-notation program called Stravinsky (which he couldn't have used himself - otherwise than posthumously, that is).

Reading the advertisements you got the impression it might very well compete with Finale. I never got round to trying it out myself, and now it seems to have gone completely missing.

Does anyone know what the program was like, and what happened to it?

My memory may have played a trick with me, I think the name of the program was "Igor Engraver". Does that ring a bell for anyone?

I was about to suggest that, Anders. There is a recent discussion of Igor on this site.
