There's a .10 update to version 6, with lots of bug fixes and improvements.

Notably, Alternative Fingering can now be shown above.
Also: holding SHIFT and double clicking on a note will select all notes of that pitch in the voice.
My own favourite: when you open the Instrument name dialog, the existing name is now highlighted and ready to be overwritten by what you type.

How is Dorico capable of writing educational material? Such as creating various boxes, arrows in any direction, braces and brackets both horizontal and vertical?

Yes, it can do all that. And I dare say that the Cutaway feature will also be useful for creating musical 'snippets' on a worksheet or other page of examples.

Really enjoying working in 6.1 right now.

Just a quick correction: the up-to-date version of Dorico presently available is not 6.1, but rather 6.0.1

@benwiggy - in your opinion, what type of works look best for Splentino?

Pretty much anything! On one hand, it's a formal traditional face, like Garamond or Bembo; but I think it has a cuddly warmth that makes it a bit friendlier.
