Re: The End of FINALE

I think, for running Finale, you don't need a very strong computer.  I have had a laptop connected to the external monitor and keyboard for years and it worked well.

Re: OpEd: Thoughts on the end of Finale.

Well put, benwiggy.

I think... I need to go through all my Finale scores, proofread, fix mistakes, and create the final PDF scores/parts.  Not that I am afraid I will not be able to open, but I am afraid I will forget all the commands and workarounds.  Sadly, I am using Sibelius now.

Re: The End of FINALE

I know they backtracked and that's their current position, but I have to think at some point in the future they will change again and discontinue it. When? I dunno. 2 years? 5 years? Certainly I wouldn't expect to still be able to install Finale 10 years from now. And that's assuming some OS update...

Re: Best design for X noteheads? [contemporary music notation]

which alternative notation do you then use (e.g. for a string player or pianist knocking on the instrument), normal noteheads on a one line staff? Or something different? You can use a normal notation, using the middle line and just write above "knocking on the instrument." Dear OCTO, tha...

Re: Best design for X noteheads? [contemporary music notation]

I have designed a set of noteheads, each using an X attached to the shape of the notehead.  However, the noteheads have been slightly resized to adjust for proper spacing.  It just works.  No other fonts can match with what I need.

Re: Staccato on stem side alignment

I would use staccato on the note sides.  This is however overwritten by the rule with two voices, but you don't have two voices.
The staccato and the note-head is one, single information.

bf, brfz in Enesco's 3rd Violin Sonata

These symbols are found at the last page of the violin part in Enesco's Violin Sonata No. 3.
What is "b"?
