Dorico 6 released!
Re: Dorico 6 released!
@John Ruggero , you've had some of your wishes granted in this release. Shortcuts for Playing Techniques was something you'd asked for, wasn't it?

That's wonderful to hear, benwiggy! I haven't had a chance to use Dorico 6 yet and look forward to discovering some of the new improvements. I did investigate the improvements to the Playing Technique editor so that one now actually knows what fonts have been used etc. And the scale button now makes sense.
M1 Mac mini (OS 12.4), Dorico 6, Finale 25.5, GPO 4, Affinity Publisher 2, SmartScore 64 Pro, JW Plug-ins, TG Tools, Keyboard maestro

I agree with you benwiggy! Nonetheless, I know sooner or later somebody is going to look at an invoice, see the proofreading hours, and say, “I heard Dorico does that automatically. Why do we have to pay for a proofreader?” Either that or I’ll mention the importance and value of proofreading to some composers, and someone will eagerly try to tell me that the new Dorico now proofreads for you!benwiggy wrote: ↑01 May 2025, 07:57 Of course, Dorico's proofing doesn't (and can't ) check for "wrong" notes, or missing slurs. (I'm hoping that a future version will be able to check for consecutives, though!)
Because it's available on Elements and SE, I do think it's going to be a massive help to 'novice' engravers. And hopefully "guide composers in their notation choices"...![]()
I’ve been told for at least 15 years that music prep is a one-click process, and that there is no need for trained copyists anymore. Meanwhile, we keep working.

Nonetheless I am curious to try Dorico’s proofreading feature and see where it may be helpful in my work. It may be nice to have possible issues flagged.
Now I just have to get the rest of my work moved over to Dorico! New templates, ongoing multi-year projects, oh my!
There is no computer problem so complex that it cannot be solved by a sledge hammer.
