Flow of spam

Since a few days there is a *very* annoying flow of spamming posts by new users. The posts are staying there since 23rd September. Isn’t there anything to do to prevent the spam? Or at least delete the posts and ban the users/ip.

Yes, it's a nuisance; but the other (and maybe worse) problem of its taking ages to do anything on this forum seems to have evaporated. Maybe there's a connection?
