Dear all,
Unfortunately, I was sick for over 10 days and also taking care of my sick kids, so I was unable to be online...
I finally received a private email from John Ruggero about the spam issue, and it has now been cleaned up.
However, we really need one or more moderators with the ability to delete posts, remove topics, and block users from posting. Your account will then be elevated from regular member to moderator status, which will grant you these powerful abilities. If any of you are willing to take it on, I would be more than happy. With your help, we can keep the forum running free of spam, when it happens.
If you are interested, please send a message to the user OCTO.
This announcement will run for 10 days.
Moderators needed
Re: Moderators needed
Now there are two moderators:
- OCTO
- benwiggy
Maybe three or four would be ideal.
The account Agent007 is the Administrator (or Supermoderator) account, and it is actually OCTO’s admin account. However, it is almost never used, since a single wrong click could easily delete all users, all posts, or even wipe the entire forum. It is reserved for emergencies and for forum updates/upgrades only.

Re: Moderators needed
Previously, the forum required that at least one post be approved before a new member could continue posting.
But it could cause frustration if there were only a few moderators available to approve posts, leaving regular users (not spammers) waiting for their topics or replies to appear.
If we have enough moderators, we could take this system back, which would be very effective in preventing spam-bots.

Re: Moderators needed
I don’t have the time to be a moderator, so thank you @OCTO and @benwiggy for stepping up!
There is no computer problem so complex that it cannot be solved by a sledge hammer.
