Regarding alternative meanings of "behind bars": a mallet instrument player is often behind bars. Mike Mainieri used this meaning for his 1995 album "Man Behind Bars".

I still recall it. It was 2011 when it was first published. I bought it for 35 CHF, the whole book.
Then I also bought the EPUB on Apple Books to have a digital copy always with me, for about 24€ or similar.
It's a hard and expensive job to be a sacred text! XD!
